I’m a little behind today, but here’s your card. Blessings!

Turtle Spirit – Slow and steady wins the race

Message: Turtle Spirit arrives to remind you that when you do what you need to do, putting one foot in front of the other and trusting that you will see your intentions manifest in perfect timing, your prosperity and love will grown exponentially. Now is not the time to rush around trying to force matters. Move slowly, perhaps even so slowly that it almost feels as if you are not moving at all! This may be time to crawl before walking, taking your time to align to Turtle Spirit’s place as you contemplate this road you are on, doing what you need to do in this small moment that will soon pass.

Turtle Spirit reminds you that sometimes the best action is to slow right down, so if it feels as if you are not doing enough, know that simply being aware of what is happening right now may be an important step toward determining whether you need to pivot or simply keep putting one foot in front of the other. “True love and true success comes with Patience,” says Turtle Spirit. Focus on the now, and the next step will be clear.

Protection Message: Pushing too hard or rushing to leave others in the dust is not the way of Turtle Spirit, even if it seems at times it is the way of the world. Turtle wants you to remember that you are a human being, not a human doing. In the protection message, Turtle is giving you the message that the best thing to do right now is let go of the drive to compete or control and do more; instead, simply be. As an old Norse saying goes, “We do without doing and everything gets done.” Spirit conspires on your behalf, so slow to a crawl or even stop, releasing any fear that life is a race that you might be losing. Trust that peace, prosperity, love, an purpose are all yours to enjoy right now. Do not “do.” Simply be.

Cleansing ceremonies can be very powerful, whether simple or elaborate. Perhaps it’s time to let go of mental and physical clutter and bless yourself or your home.

Just a heads up, this will be the last card this week as I have an out-of-town appointment tomorrow. Have a great weekend!

SMUDGING CEREMONY

MEANING: Let go of the past. Purify. Detox. Release whatever doesn’t serve or support you in your life. Cleanse your body and environment by doing space clearing and clutter clearing. Let go of the old, discarded, and unused to make way for the new energy and new beginnings. Eat lightly, drink lots of fresh water, and consume food with strong life force.

NATIVE SPIRIT WISDOM: Smudging is a native tradition that involves using the smoke of burning herbs to symbolically “wash” a space in a ceremonial manner. Sometimes your energy field or the energy field of your environment becomes so cluttered and dingy that you can’t see the world clearly and you have trouble hearing the messages from your soul. When you take the time to purify yourself and your environment, not only do you feel lighter and brighter but also you’re a clearer channel for the light. The brilliance that pours through you can heal and help many people – but first the path has to be clear.

THE JOURNEY: Using the smoke of incense or sage, cup your hands into the smoke and “wash” over the top of your head, saying, “That I think clearly.” Then cup the smoke to your eyes, saying, “That I may see the truth.” Next bring the smoke to your throat area, saying, “That I may speak the truth.” Finally, waft the smoke to your heart area, saying, “That my heart be open.”

For some folks, the home they grew up in did not provide support or love; others of us were very lucky to have warm and helpful elements in our childhood home. As adults, however, home is more than our physical house – it is who we surround ourselves with and how your social group supports all the members in it. Just like the arch leading to the card’s roundhouse, home is made up of many different components and people. Don’t forget all those there who can help and encourage you.

Blessings!

TEN OF STONES – HOME

MEANING: The inner and outer community that sustains and supports the individual, not necessarily blood family but the trusted friends, comrades, and lovers who offer security and affection.

READING POINTS: The traditional concept of home and family has evoked and changed over the last few decades, but certain basic notions remain unchanged. In the traditional British family home, where the father went to work and the mother stayed home to manage the house and the children, home was the place we always came back to, where stability and a well-founded set of traditions and social rules applied. It was both guarded and guided by love, respect, and loyalty As children, we see home as a place of security and caring. As young adults exploring the world, it can be wherever you lay your hat or guitar case. In later life, it may become your own heart’s stronghold and sanctuary. For some, the concept of home is just that: an idea, a hope, a dream, not merely a shelter from the elements or an investment in bricks and plaster. For some, it truly is where love resides and is the final destination after a colorful or arduous life journey.

DESCRIPTION: A great arch made up of ten weathered stones frames the picture. Through this gate, we glimpse an Iron Age round house with a path leading to it. From the thatched roof of the house rises a mighty apple tree. Carved into the two lowest stones of the great arch are rough-hewn male and female figures.

We’ve had a lot of clearing and letting go cards of late, so I wonder what deeper message is here? Maybe this isn’t just for us on an individual level but for us on a societal level. Thoughts?

Groundhog Spirit – Time to Let Go

Message: Endings lead to beginnings and death is part of life, so Groundhog is here to let you know that it  is time to accept the natural ending of something that is no longer serving you. We love to hold on to what is familiar, but the new needs space to arrive so growth can occur. When Groundhog Spirit appears, it is sign that there is something in your present situation that you need to leg to of so something new can be born, something that will far better serve you now.

When the groundhog sees his shadow, he retreats to his den. So too might you yearn for a little more time to say goodbye and transition into the new. However, change is coming and it is good, so let go of your resistance. Spring brings many blessings, and what must die will always be reborn in a new form that will be right for you. Life requires change and detachment. Say farewell to whatever once served you, and get ready for something amazing to take its place. Spirit is already sending it your way.

Protection Message: Have you been relentless in your efforts to revive something that has passed its prime and needs to die away – a situation, a relationship, a belief, or a habit that served you once but no longer fills you with vitality? Perhaps you automatically expect to see the old through a specific lens based on the familiar? Groundhog has appeared to let you know it’s time to accept that the past is in the past, so allow yourself to feel the loss and grieve it if you need to. Any sadness will not last forever or overwhelm you. Knowing Spirit is with you and wants you to experience joy and excitement again will help you through this transition from the old to the new.

Keep your eyes open, for winter always gives way to spring and endings always give birth to beginnings. For now, let yourself feel your emotions, releasing them to make way for the joy that awaits you. Spring and new growth are on the way, for that is Spirit’s promise to you.

In a world saturated with opinions and both good and junk information, getting quiet time to find your own answers is especially important. Listen to your own gut and heart.

Blessings!

Seek Your Answers Within

If you find yourself confused, your intuition and inner voice drowned out by the answers, wisdom and advice of others, then it is time for you to step away. Withdraw to a place of solitude. Like the bear, it is time for you to hibernate, to go within and seek the void, and to embrace the silence that dwells within. Within that silence are the answers to your questions, and because they are answers born of your truths, they will be answers that move you forward, instead of holding you still.

Sometimes you pull a card that makes so much sense that it’s scary. This certainly fits me today – but I hope it helps some of you. Have a great Thursday!

Seven of Bows – Clearance

Meaning: A time to make decisions and choose priorities. Focus on what you really need in your life and what it is time to dispose of and cut away, especially if it is worn out and broken or no longer meets your needs on the journey of life.Description: A worn, broken and splintered bow rests on the ground. Six half-prepared staves stand to one side. A bonfire burns off timber waste. The smoke curls through the trees and up towards the sky, but the flames are bright and small showers of sparks light the evening sky.

Reading Points: All things must change and evolve, and however well prepared or carefully constructed your tools and skills, new challenges and obstacles may require rethinking and relearning. Both wear out and eventually fracture under constant use, stress, and tension. Arrows were put through damp and strenuous flexing and lose their strength and accuracy. Change is a natural part of the process of renewal and although it can be painful (pain brings change and change brings pain), it must be seen as a positive turn of the wheel and necessary for new life to begin.

Welcoming the clearing of the old and worn and preparing the ground for new growth is vital. New shoots and spring saplings will be starved of light and nutrients in the soil if the ground is not cleared. Old boughs and stumps should be removed to ease the process of saving goodbye to a tool or concept that has outlived its practical life. By allowing the passing of the old and the clearing of the ground to take place with an element of welcoming and exceptance of change, the feelings of relief and poignancy may aid the healing process, giving comfort. The Wildwood Tarot by authors Mark Ryan and John Matthews and artist Will Worthington

Today, I decided, would be the last day using just the Halloween Oracle. It looks like the Ancestors took the opportunity to visit us again and remind us that we have the power and love of generations behind us. They may not be perfect generations, but it’s up to us to move the family line in a healing direction.

Blessings!

ANCESTORS – The love and legacy of our DNA

I walk in their footsteps
Their wisdom inside me remains
I am unique, yet carry a legacy
Their blood runs in my veins
Whether or not we know our ancestors, we are the product of those who have lived before us, DNA-wise. Externally, we may have the body type of our father, our mother’s eyes, our grandmother’s nose, our great-grandfather’s skin tone.On the inside, it gets even more interesting. We know now that we can “inherit” the way our body works, blood types, genetic disorders, even propensities for aspects of brain function like introversion, musicality, and mathematics.

Many Pagan paths associated with Halloween believe that we are born perfectly imperfect to be exactly what we are meant to be. What does this mean? It means that the gifts our ancestors left us and the unique synergy of the combination of the physical, mental, and physical that is created within us, sets us up perfectly to achieve our ultimate purpose.

Should the Ancestor card bring itself to your attention, know that you are ready and able to action your birthright of power. You have the support of those who came before you. There may be challenges or struggles but you have everything you need to overcome them. You will prevail!

We saw this card exactly one month ago. Perhaps some of us need to be reminded that to become something new, we must make space for it. That may occur by clearing physical, mental, or emotional clutter. Don’t be afraid of a bare wall, literally or figuratively – it is there to be filled with something new.

THE UNDERWORLD
Where all things pause and begin again

Another realm, shadow filled
Travel from death’s bed
Where we stop and transform
Within the realm of the dead

The idea of the “underworld,” a whole realm that we go to after we die, is a concept that crosses a huge variety of cultures and eras. The Sumerians, the Turkish, the Incas, the Greeks through to the Siberians, the Maori and the Kymers – all had a distinct word for the underworld. What is different though is how these cultures treat this concept – whether the underworld is seen as a place of rest and rejuvenation or horror and punishment.

The Christian hell is a place of darkness, fire, and punishment. The Egyptian underworld is one of judgment, peace, and renewal. In Maori culture, it is an in-between place of waiting, wisdom, and transition. Many myths that mention the underworld often involve the concept of a place of waiting and of trials and eventual judgment. It can also be a place of joy and peace.

Should the Underworld card be present in your reading, you are being asked to consider exactly what you have to do to transform your life into something you find easier or more authentic to you. This may involve changing course. It may involve trials and tests. Keep moving. Whilst things may fall away and your life may appear bare for a time, this is temporary. Space is being made into which you can create the new.

Miss the chance to do some divination last night? It’s not too late – and today’s card is suggesting we give it a go. Even if we struggle to see something, the act of quieting our minds and reducing distractions can be a helpful practice too.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

SCRYING – Intuition

Scrying is the divination technique of seeing unconscious images (or images from the divine or supernatural) appear upon or within a surface. People scry into a crystal ball, a black mirror, water, even the surface of ice. It is a very ancient technique and one traditionally enacted on Samhain (Halloween).

The keys to effective scrying are being as relaxed as possible, minimizing possible distractions, softening your gaze and allowing.
The enemy of effective scrying is distraction, both from inside and out. Turn off the phone, electric lights anywhere you can see them, any music, and if you are scrying outdoors, take the time to setting into the environment and listen to all the noises so that your mind will not need to break your focus later. It is also vitally important to settle the mind as much as you can.

If you regularly meditate, you may wish to use those techniques or otherwise you can simply shut your eyes and focus on slowing your breath – this is usually very effective. If you have a specific question for the scrying medium, state it up front. Then, when you feel relaxed, turn your focus inward. Imagine pulling your energy within you and then you focus on the third eye point (the chakra point on the center of the forehead, just above the eyebrows) and imagine opening it. Then gaze in a soft unfocused way at your scrying surface and simply allow images to form and observe what present itself to you. Do not engage your rational mind – this is about receiving and not thinking!

Should you pull the Scrying card, I suggest you try it for starters. It also indicates that you may wish to develop your intuition further and not rely solely on the logical part of your mind for all the answers. It takes a balance of logic and imagination and intuition for true wisdom.
