This is a thoughtful card to start the week with; it encourages us to take our visions and begin to make them real. Time to stop being a dreamer and becoming a do-er, making those dreams a reality.

Blessings!

The Seer

Reading Points: The time has come to focus your power and let it flow through you. Many dreams or desires related to the creative emotional process are ready to be applied in your day-to-day life and you must now give vent to those hidden or suppressed longings. This may relate to healing, sexual relationships, or partnerships. Now the manifestation of inner spiritual or esoteric insights into your practical and physical daily life will bring profound rewards and results. It is a sign of maturity. The seer also relates to creative impulses such as art, mechanical skills and crafts, and the joy of bringing pleasure and knowledge to others.

Meaning: Place at the heart of the wheel and the Wildwood in the quadrant of water, the seer represents insight that is gained from the stillness and weirdness of the sojourn with the Hooded Man. She stands at the heart of an interpersonal universe and can mediate that knowledge and help to externalize this energy to power, wisdom, or creative endeavor in the material world.

The seer acts as an oracular mediator of the feminine intuitive and imaginative principal, but her mediation is based on grounded energy and skill. This is symbolized by her feathered cloak, which represents the flight of thought and intellect, matured and stabilize to her deep-rooted power, grounded in the memory of the call just earth.

The seer stands at the center both of the wheel and of the individual in our world, facing the showman. She stands not only as a guide to the soul but as a catalyst for the manifestation of creative and artistic work. Ideas maybe filtered through the shadowy realm of dreams and trancelike states, but the inner archetypal mediator that forms these ideas into works of literature, song, or dance is the seer. It is she who inspires the emotional link to the book or piece of music or brings a tear to the eye at the end of an emotional film or laughter at a funny story.

With her inherent ability to balance emotion, intellect, and will power, she spurs us on to create change in our material world and is a skilled mediator of all the elemental force that is found within the Wildwood. She fosters the positive exercise of will, but through emotion and commitment and resulting in an outer material effect. This is one of the purest and most blessed forms of earth magic.

This certainly fits my needs lately, but I hope it speaks to some of you out there too. It’s easy to get caught up in all the stuff we think we need to do, but sometimes we just need to take a breath and see what we really NEED to do. Distractions are plentiful – slow down and see what you really need and what you really don’t.

Turtle Spirit – Slow and steady wins the race

Message: Turtle Spirit arrives to remind you that when you do what you need to do, putting one foot in front of the other and trusting that you will see your intentions manifest in perfect timing, your prosperity and love will grown exponentially. Now is not the time to rush around trying to force matters. Move slowly, perhaps even so slowly that it almost feels as if you are not moving at all! This may be time to crawl before walking, taking your time to align to Turtle Spirit’s place as you contemplate this road you are on, doing what you need to do in this small moment that will soon pass.

Turtle Spirit reminds you that sometimes the best action is to slow right down, so if it feels as if you are not doing enough, know that simply being aware of what is happening right now may be an important step toward determining whether you need to pivot or simply keep putting one foot in front of the other. “True love and true success comes with Patience,” says Turtle Spirit. Focus on the now, and the next step will be clear.

Protection Message: Pushing too hard or rushing to leave others in the dust is not the way of Turtle Spirit, even if it seems at times it is the way of the world. Turtle wants you to remember that you are a human being, not a human doing. In the protection message, Turtle is giving you the message that the best thing to do right now is let go of the drive to compete or control and do more; instead, simply be. As an old Norse saying goes, “We do without doing and everything gets done.” Spirit conspires on your behalf, so slow to a crawl or even stop, releasing any fear that life is a race that you might be losing. Trust that peace, prosperity, love, and purpose are all yours to enjoy right now. Do not “do.” Simply be.

It’s Monday, and today’s card suggests some caution or preparation before making a big move or revealing something. Perhaps you need to literally take some steps to protect yourself energetically – or maybe something a little more mundane is needed to prepare. Whatever it is, slow down and consider it.

Blessings!

MEDICINE BAG

MEANING: Gather your resources. Be discerning. Vast inner power is growing in your life – step back and let it grow. There are times to shine brightly for all to see, and there are also times to choose carefully who sees your true self. Choose wisely. Do not make hasty decisions. If it doesn’t feel right, hold back. You’re protected from any less-than-positive outside influences. Your capacity and potential are growing in leaps and bounds.

NATIVE SPIRIT WISDOM: It’s traditional in indigenous cultures to carry a medicine bag or bundle as a form of protection and also as a way to access your personal power through the sacred objects that are held there. The items in the medicine bag each contain potent qualities that allow one’s abilities to magnify and also help one commune with the Creator. As your power grows, take time to protect it. Just as you protect a seedling in the early months, and then later – once it’s an established tree – it can withstand the storms of time. Protect your growing power, and it will become as mighty as an ancient oak.

THE JOURNEY: Consider obtaining or creating your own medicine bag or bundle. Put objects in it that are meaningful to you and make you feel strong and vital whenever you look at them. Traditionally, one’s medicine bag was not worn for display, but often hidden from view or kept in a sacred place.

Alright, since I missed yesterday, here is a card for our weekend. This can seem an introspective card, and it is to a degree, but it only takes a little time here and there to consider the lessons of our past and the past off our ancestors.

Have a good weekend, everyone!

Elephant Spirit – Learn from the past

Message: Although we often wish we could leave the past behind, Elephant Spirit reminds us that memory matters. We must respect the wisdom of the elders who hand down to us traditions they have shaped to express our connection to each other and respect for the community. What has come before informs what we are experiencing today, and we must never forget our legacy of strength and dignity. Elephant appears with the message that we are to acknowledge that which came before and learn from it.

All of us are memory-based creatures, and we must revisit the past to understand where we are and where we are going. The stories of events you experienced, the stories in our collective memory, and the stories of relationships you have had can be told many ways. What story will you tell? Elephant Spirit is here to encourage you to make it one that stirs in you a sense of power and dignity, for you have honored yourself by choosing to learn from your past. Spirit rejoices at your willingness to learn and grow.

Protection Message: Are you feeling uncomfortable with a tradition, custom, or familiar behavior that no longer fits who you are? Do you wish the past could be erased so it could no longer cause you a moment’s pain? Elephant Spirit is here to encourage you to write a different story and alter the traditions in ways that acknowledge that we all evolve, for transformation is our nature.

Elephant asks you not to be selective in your memory, because ignoring the good or the bad will prevent you from growing your wisdom and strength. Build on the best of the past, learn from the worst, and walk in to the future with dignity, accompanied by Elephant Spirit, who remembers the truth and honors your strength and wisdom.

Licorice is gentle healing and encouragement. Use it to help say what you need to say.

Blessings,

Thistle

Eight of Air – Licorice

Know your limits and respect them; proclaim your truth; walk out through the gate

A large licorice plant stands in the foreground of an old garden. It is wild and needs to be cut down. The broken down wooden gate swings open at a small gust of wind, reveling the wide open meadow through the thick branches of the unruly plant. A dilapidated stone arch blocks the view to the clear sky beyond.

Meaning: What holds us back is not always clear. Are you feeling fenced in by the circumstances of your life? Staying isolated seems safe, but like this overgrown garden, it could become a prison of your own making. Know your limits; there is no shame in saying no. Constant internal dialogue may have silenced you, but your body can no longer hold that story inside. Licorice heals the vocal cords. Speak your truth aloud to others; it will give you power. A power shared is a power multiplied. Licorice medicine is soft and sweet; be kind to yourself as you meet your boundaries head on.

Crafting with the Eight of Air

• Make a licorice root talisman to reinforce boundaries.

• Drink licorice tea to strengthen your voice.

• Write thank you notes to friends who hold the gates of compassion open when you feel trapped.

It’s easy to get distracted and lose sight of what’s important nowadays. Sometimes the fix is as easy as stepping outside, taking a deep breath, and smelling the oils from the mints, rosemary, or lemony herbs outside my back door. Other times, it takes more dedication and control to get back into focus. There are times to relax and not worry about focus – today is not one of them.

Blessings,

Card of the Day: Mint (Clarity, Concentration, Renewal)

Meaning: Mint was traditionally used to aid in concentration and digestion. Today, we often need to process a vast amount of information, and our concentration is challenged by a thousand distractions. Choosing this card may indicate that you are entering a period when you need to focus carefully on your work or on what is currently happening in your life.

It could well be that a renewal or freshness will appear in a relationship or project that you hadn’t expected, and to profit from this you will need to be attentive. Just as vibrance and clarity are elusive qualities that can easily disappear in amount, so too can opportunities for new life and growth be missed if you are inattentive. You might also like to think about ways in which you could be proactive in initiating renewal, rather than simply waiting for it to occur.

Reversed: Confusion, Dullness, Lack of Focus

Clarity is a subtle quality that is worth cherishing. If you have chosen this card, it may indicate that you have lost this characteristic and that you need to focus on bringing it back into your life. Remember the feeling of waking to a bright spring day when you were young, of splashing your face with cold water and of feeling wonderfully clear-headed and alive. Ask yourself what you need to do to regain that feeling, and see if you can take steps toward this. The plant world in particular can help you in a this respect – walking in nature, communing with trees and plants, eating the right foods and taking the right herbs can all help to bring you the sense of clarity, freshness and renewal that you seek.

Alternatively, the card may signify a temporary loss of focus. It could be time to explore your goals and discover what it is you really want out of life, and to start prioritizing your life accordingly.

Earlier this week, there was a lot of friction in some local groups, and I feel like I followed this card’s instructions yesterday. Perhaps another day of centering and restoring the energy is a good idea. Hopefully, this speaks to those outside my little neck of the woods.

Blessings!

Sacred Mountain

Meaning: Be still and take time to move into the silent place within yourself. Locate your internal source of power. Meditate and wait. Do not move forward until it feels right. Surrender to stillness. Do not take action. If you observe, rather than react, you claim your power.

Native Spirit Wisdom: From the vantage point of the sacred mountain, your power grows. In the silence you find your secret witness. It is the dwelling place of your soul. In peace, seek and discover your truth. Move past the bustle and clutter of life into sweet quietude. If you are in pain, don’t lash out; go into it until you find the source of that and healed. Resist the temptation to indulge in feelings of stress, urgency, and emergency. Your power is born in silence. This peace gives birth to your serenity. Seek solitude to listen to the voice of your higher self and awaken your inner wisdom.

The Journey: Travel to the peaks of hallowed mountains, and if you can’t do this in person, travel in your meditation. Imagine yourself atop a high peak and you can see the world in all directions. Give thanks and offerings to mountains, whenever you encounter them. The spirit of the mountain will deeply appreciate your gift.

The Earth and its abundance is immortal and everlasting – tying those traits to us. How does what we take in and give out affect the world? Do you share or do you hoard your abundance and energy? Is your approach to it balanced? I find this card gives me more questions than answers, but sometimes that’s how it rolls.

Blessings,

Thistle

Globe Amaranth – Immortality

The Earth provides and shelters. The Earth and all the Devas and Spirit Beings watch and work with you. You live in an abundant and fertile Universe.

Guidance: Abundance surrounds you – open your eyes and heart to see.

Channeled Message: I hear sounds like dry things rubbing against each other in the breeze. Orange light. Orange ball of light, burning bright. Crackling. Rustling. Polka dot field of orange, white, purple, and blue as far as I can see. I am standing in a sea of Gomphrena. They make me feel so happy! Such delight. They brush up against me as I walk through them. My hands are outstretched and I am touching them softly as I pass through them. The Sun is so warm on me. Such happiness. I am floating above the field. It stretches for miles and miles and weaves through the mountains and over hillsides. It is the energy of the Earth spreading over the face of the planet. It is the energy of the Earth spreading over the face of the planet. The energy of the Earth runs through them, through their blood and ancestry as surely as it does through me, through all flowers, all trees, the water, all the animals, insects, birds. and fish. We are all the same. We are all Earth’s children. We are family. We are relations.

Name Origins: From the Latin name for a kind of amaranth and globosa meaning round or spherical.

Traditional Meaning: Immortality or Everlasting which references the flowers which can be dried.

Today, we are back to this lovely new deck that is so perfect for spring and summer! Grape Hyacinth greets us with a dose of confidence to overcome fears.

Have a lovely day,

Thistle

Grape Hyacinth – Power & Confidence

Destroy the dragon that pursues you and steals your confidence. You can make it disappear with one thought of love and connection.

Meaning: Fears begin as small thoughts lurking in the garden of your mind. They move through your memories and worry at the ones that have wounded you. You are love. You only have to slay the dragon that purses trying to convince you that you are not a sacred being. Slay the dragon that is haunting you.

Channeled Message: In the garden – in a Muscari forest. I see movement. A lizard? Scales like the Muscari petals – a dragon! It’s a tiny dragon. The Deva of the Muscari has taken this form to easily move amongst the flowers, along the ground surveying each of the plants as it tends them. I sit and wait. The dragon approaches me and sits across from me. It begins to grow – it is sudden huge. It towers over me. I am starting to feel a bit frightened. Now is the time to remember my power – don’t let this dragon rule me.

Name Origins and Traditional Meanings: From the Greek word for musk, moschos, due to the fragrance of some of the species. The Grape Hyacinth is not a Hyacinth. Traditional Meaning: Power, Confidence.

Traditional Uses: For quite a long time, these flowers were in use in Italy for dyeing purposes, only falling out of favor around WWII.

All the art in this deck is truly beautiful and fantastic, and I reached for this deck partially because it called and partially because I saw an update from the creator, Ravine Phelan, this weekend. It’s heartbreaking that such a wonderful (and I believe self-taught) artist is struggling with Small Vessel Disease, which affects her eyes, heart, and more. If you are familiar with this Messenger Oracle or the Dreams of Gaia Oracle, you know how symbolism rich and beautiful her images are. I don’t normally do this, but if you enjoy her work, consider supporting her on Patreon (https://www.patreon.com/ravynnephelan).

As for today’s card, having dreams and goals is lovely, but sometimes we need to verbalize them. Doing so does two things. By communicating your vision with others, you are required to clarify that dream/goal for yourself. Too often, we have magical thinking that if we just daydream about something enough, it will happen. Every dream and goal takes work as well as a good idea and passion. Further, communicating it might also help you connect with others who might be able to help you in some way.

Enjoy your week!

Thistle

Share Your Thoughts

You have hopes, dreams, goals, and ideas. Do not guard your ideas jealously nor keep them locked up for fear that another may steal them or offer ridicule instead of support. It is time to share your vision. Tell Great Spirit and Gaia of your dreams and hopes so they may send you what you need. Speak of your dreams to others. Connect with those who share your goals and hopes for they may be able to help you realize your dreams sooner.
